I've produced 2 drafts for this design, one with the distinctive long floats in the warp (the first phot above) and one without (the second photo above). Both are twist-neutral for the pattern tablets, so you won't get a build-up of twist behind them. I recommend flipping the threading direction of the selvedge tablets (and continuing to turn them forward) every few repetitions of the turning diagram to weave out the twist behind them. Both turning diagrams use the same threading diagram as the one I used for the rest of the Advent band. If you're finding the number of tablets overwhelming, feel free to remove tablets 27-38. The turning sequence for the remaining tablets will be the same and the design will still be twist-neutral.

As with all of the free drafts/patterns on this site, you are welcome to weave them, sell bands woven using them, and use them to teach other weavers, just as long as you state where you found them.

Hello, I warped your pattern but as I’m weaving it’s not showing up correctly. I do get the big diamonds, but the small diamonds just appear as wavy lines. I double checked threading and all tablets are in the S position except the 2 labeled as Z.
ReplyDeleteCan you link me to a picture of your band? I might be able to work out what's gone wrong for you.

DeleteAh, I see what you mean. It looks like we're using opposing definitions for threading direction. If you check the back of the band, the design should appear there. This page might help: http://www.tabletweavingintheoryandpractice.co.uk/p/threading-directions.html
DeleteAha! I was using Tablets at Work as a reference and I think their S and Z threading pictures are backwards from yours. Pattern was on the back side, my apologies I didn’t think to check that! Got all the cards flipped. Thank you for taking the time to troubleshoot with me, much appreciated!
DeleteIt's no trouble, honestly. I'm paying it backward, so to speak, and giving the help I wished I could have asked for as a beginner weaver. It makes me happy that I can fix these things for people.
